This NEW Alternator is a Direct bolt-in replacement to any GM alternator with a two inch mount from 1965-1986. Works great for muscle cars or street rods.
When replacing an earlier externally regulated version (pre 74) GM alternator with the 3 or 4-wire plug-in type connection at the old voltage regulator: simply unplug this connector, as it will no longer be necessary. This new style self-exciting replacement alternator has it built inside. The only necessary connection is the main battery output wire at the back of the new alternator.
After installation be sure to check for proper function with a voltmeter.
